Close, by We Are Messengers
From: Marie Gayton
One of my favorite verses, especially in times of trials, is Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.'. I’m sure the things that I experience, the things that my family goes through, are not unique to us. I know for a fact that many of our family in the church are going through far worse. This song just spoke so clearly all that my heart wanted to say to my Abba through it all. Through walking in our own trials and walking those we love through theirs.
So many times, when I pray, especially when I take the time to write it out, I find that the Holy Spirit ministers to my heart from the moment I bring all of my tears and hurt and questions to God and then He turns it all to remembrance of His Word and His promises and His presence in my life. I come out of that time of prayer praising Him instead of focusing on all of the here and now. That's where I find my joy. He is so faithful to draw me to Himself in the midst of it all. I know He has a plan and a purpose and I can trust in Him. More than that…I know YOU can too. Praying that this song would minister to your heart as you walk through it all and that you would know it is ok to feel ALL those feelings those trials bring.
Abba, draw me close!
Lyrics
There's a million things
That I don't understand
I'm just being honest, God
Was it all part of Your plan
You know I wouldn't change a thing
Even though I hate the memory
You gave me a burden that
You said You'd help me carry
I know You're working all things for my good
In the way that only You could
Maybe the why just don't matter
What if it's not for me to know
Maybe the point is just to trust You
Find the faith to let it go
Cause sometimes falling feels like flying
It's the only way I know
So I won't hurry through the heartache
If it's what it takes
To draw me close
God, You know the tears I've cried
And the times I couldn't breathe
Oh, You never left my side
So I rest here at Your feet
I know You're working all things for my good
In the way that only You could
Maybe the why just don't matter
What if it's not for me to know
Maybe the point is just to trust You
Find the faith to let it go
Cause sometimes falling feels like flying
It's the only way I know
So I won't hurry through the heartache
If it's what it takes
To draw me close
To draw me close
I know You're working all things for my good
In the way that only You could
I know You're working all things for my good
In the way that only You could
Maybe the why just don't matter
What if it's not for me to know
Maybe the point is just to trust You
Find the faith to let it go
Cause sometimes falling feels like flying
It's the only way I know
So I won't hurry through the heartache
If it's what it takes
To draw me close
To draw me close
To draw me close
