Promise of God - Jesus is our Savior
  • Titus 3:5-6, “not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,”
There are many metaphors and analogies used to present the human condition. They all point toward a position of helplessness. A place where no matter what your accumulation of abilities and talents may be, they will never be enough to save your life and save you from an eternity away from God.

I sometimes look at it this way. Prior to knowing Jesus as my Savior and Lord, I was in a vast ocean of my own sins, not knowing how to swim. I was smack dab in the middle of it and with each wild stroke that I flung forward I only sank faster.

Finally, through all the noise and the ruckus, the Holy Spirit’s voice came through clearly and tangibly. I felt His love. He said to me, “Please allow me,” and Jesus saved me. He did not save me because I was trying so earnestly, not because my efforts had gained His favor, but simply and miraculously because He loves me. He came into this world to reconcile my confused and broken heart to the Father.

Our Savior is mercy, compassion and forgiveness. He delighted in cleansing me, washing me by His life and blood, and giving me a new mind and heart through the power and wisdom of the Holy Spirit.

I pray you will allow Him to pluck you out of your horrible, manmade destiny. Invite Jesus in--He will save you. There comes a point where you cannot reach far enough to get that life preserver yourself. You will never ever learn to swim with a heavy-burdened heart.
