Matthew 11:28, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
I love this verse because there have been so many times in my life where I am in desperate need of rest. Physical rest and spiritual rest. Physical rest from the heavy demands of life, work, family, and the heavy burdens that never seem to cease in life.
But honestly most of the time I am in desperate need of spiritual rest. Rest from the cares of life, the troubles in life, the problems of life, and the concerns of life. Is this true for you? Can it be too much for you to bear at times?
I love the reminder in this verse that we can come to Him and find true rest. The Lord calls us to come unto Him in order that we may find true rest.
Jesus doesn’t drive us or push us away when we labor or are heavy laden. He calls us to Himself. Labor implies the burdens we take upon ourselves, and heavy laden implies the burdens others may sometimes put upon us.
Jesus can relate with our restlessness, labor, and heavy burdens. We read in Hebrews 4:15, “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.”
Jesus is reminding us that we will never know true rest until we know the living God and truly surrender it all to Him. Let’s give up trying to bear burdens on our own. May we come to that point of exhaustion in our life when we can truly surrender our lives, our struggles, our burdens, and our will to God. May we find the rest that we are so desperately searching for.

Baby Norah Rae. Please continue to pray for this precious little girl who was born on January 14 and is need of our prayers. Please also pray for mommy Raelene and for daddy Raymond, for strength and peace. May our Lord be glorified through it all. UPDATE: Norah Rae is losing weight . Pray for wisdom for medical team. And healing over all, continued strength and grace upon grace for mommy and daddy. For Lord to use all of this for His glory. Update 2/25 3:40pm Alrighty... we got some interesting news today... the results from the echocardiogram are in...the reason the echocardiogram took so long to conduct was because they couldn’t find the double aortic arch! The cardiologist this morning said that they think it may have been a blood vessel that closed on its own! They will be conducting a MRI in the next couple days to verify. Thank you God! Please be praying. Right now they are putting another IV in her because she had to lower her hourly breast milk intake because she was spitting a bit too much. So it will now be 7.5 ml with additional fluids. Please keep praying!
