Isaiah 6:1, "In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple."
The prophet Isaiah was in mourning over the death of a great king. As we go through this life, we will have times of sadness. They can be so big that we can lose sight of who God is, His greatness and sovereignty. We might think that God has left us to ourselves, asking where is God in all this? We might feel like we have been abandoned by Him.
We must never lose sight of the fact that He has not forsaken us and never will. I can only wonder how the prophet felt as he saw the Lord high and lifted up sitting on His throne. He surely forgot about his sadness. Once he saw the greatness of God, his sorrow could not be compared to the glory of the Lord.
We must remember that we are here, but this is not our home and our suffering does not compare to what awaits us.
It is written in 1 Corinthians 2:9, "But as it is written: 'Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.'"
We should know that Jesus suffered for us and we are called to suffer as well. Certainly, when a loved one dies, it is one of the most difficult things to endure. When these things happen, we must always look up to heaven. When we look up, we will see the Lord high and lifted up, all-powerful and in total control.
Though your situation may change for what seems to be the worst, know that God has not changed and never will.
Your brother in Christ,
- Abel
